Counselor | 816 249 5371
A passion for working with teens and their families as well as a belief in the fruit of private residential care led Amber Thomas to seek a position with Shelterwood as a Counselor. After graduating with her bachelors degree in Behavioral Science from Sterling College, Amber worked as Residential Staff at a faith-based residential treatment facility. From that experience, Amber experienced the joy of living in compliance with her calling. That experience guided the path that has presently provided her the opportunity to serve again in one of her favorite environments. Amber pursued higher education, a Masters in Social Work from the University of Kansas, and worked with at-risk teenagers in a variety of settings, all of which helped broaden her understanding and appreciation of private residential care. The relationships built and the growth that is experienced when walking with individuals and families in this setting are rich and meaningful. Amber hopes to be a servant and is eager to be witness to the Lord’s faithfulness as He restores families.
