Dear Shelterwood Family:
Over the past year, the ministry at Shelterwood and Doulos has weathered the tough challenge of losing its founder, and our dear friend, Richard Beach, and the necessary restructuring of the ministry that ensued. And over that time, I have been so proud of our dedicated staff for their commitment to continue building into the lives of the young men and women that God has entrusted to us.
Therefore, we began an extensive search across the nation for a new CEO. Our focus was to find a CEO for the ministry who had a strong leadership gifting, and a passion for the Lord Jesus Christ. We wanted to find a man or a woman who could help set this ministry on a course for growth for the next thirty years. After evaluating hundreds of potential candidates for this position, the pool of candidates was narrowed to only three. The search committee for our Board conducted the final interviews just over one week ago. And I am excited to announce that a new CEO for Shelterwood Ministries has been selected, Mr. Jim Subers.
Jim was initially introduced to us by one of our former Board Members, Mr. Jack Herschend. Jack has worked with Jim and known him for over 15 years. Jack says that "Jim is a great fit for Shelterwood." Jim has extensive experience in both the for profit and nonprofit world. He and his wife Janice have served as missionaries to the nation of Japan, working primarily with Japanese young people in Tokyo. After serving as an Executive Vice President for a private oil and gas company, Joe White recruited Jim to lead the Kids Across America camps for Kanakuk in the late 90's. He also spent a number of years leading an international ministry based in Israel, MegaVoice LTD. And most recently, Jim has been serving as President and CEO of Bill Glass Champions for Life, an evangelistic training ministry based in Dallas, Texas. This ministry trains thousands of volunteers to share their faith with inmates in prisons, and also has a wonderful mentoring program for at risk youth.
Please join me in welcoming Jim to the Shelterwood family. I believe that the future is bright for our ministry, and I hope you get the opportunity to meet Jim and Janice soon.
Ronald M. Cameron
Chairman of the Board
